When doing soup and you haven't got a lot of time then I would recommend you have boiling water and fill the inner pot with the water to where the veggies are sitting. Doesn't take very long to cook the veggies. Once cooked I drained the water and kept it to drink with the meal. I had kumera (sweet potato), onion and pumpkin.
